Sunday morning walk.

What a beautiful morning for a walk. It's a little humid but not enough to keep us inside.

Mom and I went down the street toward the park, nice homes to look at and usually a few bunnies for me to chase. We stopped and Mom was watching 6 huge crows eating something in the road. She kept saying it was gross and disgusting. I really couldn't get a good view, I've learned not to go near crows or Canadian Geese. I was told that when they look at a little "full bodied" Boston, like myself, that loud noise they make is them saying to each other... "Look at that tasty morsel". So needless to say, I found something else to look at.

Did you know that in some countries large black ants are considered a delicacy? Well, while my Mom was watching the crows eat the squished thing, I found some of those really big delicacies on the sidewalk. By the time Mom looked down I had eaten a few. She was'nt happy,  She said it was yucky and icky and we had to head toward home. If you want my opinion, I think she was just jealous because I got all the really big ones.

That's how my Sunday is starting out... I hope you have a good day. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to find some kind of delicacy of your own. When in doubt.. Milkbone works for me.

Opening a new chapter.

I got to go to Fabric Town yesterday afternoon. WOW, it sure looks empty from the last time I was in.
Almost everything is gone because of the sale. Saturday is the last day... Mom's feeling pretty sad.

While I was there, the Civil War club was meeting for the last time so I got to meet some of the ladies. Nice group, and I smelled cookies in a bag. Unfortunately, my Mom whisked me out of there before I had a chance to sample one.

When we left the shop, Mom took me two doors down and showed me the new place. I guess Aunt Nancy and Mom are opening another store. This time it's Antiques, Collectibles and some kind of Treasures. I know my Mom says I'm a treasure, so that must mean I'm going to be there alot. I was told that there was  plenty of room to move my little kennel in the back office. Whatever, it works for me. Staying home alone all day gets old.

Oh, forgot to thank the ladies who inquired about my blog. Yes, I'll still be writing it after Fabric Town closes. Mom is going to discontinue her shop blog and start a new one. I believe it's going to be called something like "The Cranberry Bog".  I think she's  still deciding. Also, they're going to do one for our new adventure called "Next Act".  (that's the name of the new shop)

I'm excited to be included in the new shop, not much exciting going on in my life lately - ready for a change. There's alot I can contribute. I'm good at watching and even better at listening. I help Mom with all kinds of things now - this should be wonderful. Just getting to spend time with Aunt Nancy is going to be great. I happen to know that she's generous with treats and loves little Bostons.  I think this is going to be a win-win situation for all of us.

Keep watching - I'll post some photos as we move forward.

Meanwhile - Have a Lotta Treats kind of day!!

102 degrees

It's 102 degrees out today. I'm staying in with the Air Conditioning on.

Little Boston Terriers, Pugs, Frenchies and Bull dogs struggle in this kind of heat. Our nasal passages aren't made to breath hot humid air.

If you have one of us.. please keep our trips outside to a minimum, and don't forget lots of cool fresh water.

Thanks

Not off to a good start

Why does everyone always point the finger at me when stuff happens?

The TV still turns on.. so it's not broken, just a little rough around the edges. So far my Thursday isn't starting off very well.

Still Happy & Naughty

Hi, My Mom said that people have been asking if I stopped blogging or she gave me away for being so naughty.. like she keeps threatening. Well the answer is NO, I'm still happy and naughty. I haven't had alot of computer time since the shop started closing. Mom has to turn the computer on for me and she's been really busy.

I'll just give you a brief update on what I've been doing for the past week. Well, it seems that while I was watching television and resting on the couch, a piece of old tattered quilt fabric got in my mouth. I didn't do the whole tear, it was already started when I got my piece. This photo is me with the little piece of fabric... back under the table so Mom can't reach me. She was pretty mad. Kept yelling something about vintage..old and killing. I just stayed under the table until the smoke cleared.

This is the part of the quilt that got the hole. It's not like it was new, and it has several spots that you can see the batting. But I got blamed for it like I did all the damage. That's what happens when you get caught with one little piece.
Right now I'm on the deck. Mom got off the chair to go in and refill her coffee so I took her spot. We just came in from a walk. I get Mom up at approximately 5:54 every morning. She loves it when I put my little rubber toy on her face. This morning we went for a nice walk down by the park.

While on our walk I did some fun things. Mom's not thrilled about them but Hey, the opportunity was there and I took it. First I licked an ant hill...then I found a really nice piece of previously experienced green apple gum. I like the gum - for the short time I was allowed to have it. After that we went home. Mom didn't seem to be having as much fun as I was  (she was mumbling under breath about obedience training when the shop closed) who knows what that was all about.

So that's a quick update.  I'm still doing OK, still happy and occasionally naughty.

Have a Milkbone kind of day...

No time to blog lately

Hi, it's me... haven't had much time or anything interesting to blog about for awhile. My Mom is closing her shop so things at my house are not fun right now. I'm trying to be as good as possible, seems like tempers are high - especially when something gets slightly chewed or licked. Hope all is good with you. I'll write more when I can get some quiet computer time.

Mom's home

Mom came home last night about 8:30. I was so glad to see her that I jumped up on her lap and kissed her all over her face. She was laughing and hugging me, and it felt good.

I know it's important for her to travel sometimes. I just hope it's a long time before she has to go again. Dad did a great job but  I think Mom was a little upset that the entire box of treats was gone in 5 days. (something about my vanishing waistline). Dad is generous with the treats, he took me for walks and snuggles with me.  BUT, he's not my Mom.

Thanks Laurel, Debbie and Pam for bringing her home safely.

Mom's gone, Dad's in charge!!!

If any of you see my Mom at Quilt Market, could you please ask her to come home.

She left Dad in charge and it's really not working out for me. He's a great guy, generous with the treats, and plays with my toys.... but, he's not my Mom.

If I had my own cell phone, I could call her.... just one more reason they should get me one.

This is my pleading face.... COME HOME MOM.... this quilting stuff can wait.

My first "Up North" experience

That's me, right up front with Mom and Dad. We're going to visit my Grandma Liz. She lives in Aitkin... that's up North.

Here I am running down the driveway with Dad. This is the fist time I haven't had to be on a leash when we walk. It's fun up here. Lots of birds and little animals. I even saw a Red squirrel. The bad part is that Mom and Dad found 2 wood ticks walking on me... yuck.

I know I look tiny in the pictures, but if you look really closely at my face... you can tell I'm having a great time.

In this photo I'm just sitting, resting with Dad. It's a long walk for a little guy.

The yard is so big and has lots of pine trees and areas to explore.

I'm just taking a quick break. The fresh air and all the activity has really worn me out. Next time we come up I'll know to pace myself a little better.

A Mother's Day Visit with my Grandmother

Tomorrow is Mother's Day and I'm going to visit my Grandma Liz. So tonight I went to the nursing home too surprise my Grandma Boston.  She was really happy to see me. I love to visit her, there's alot of Grandmothers and Grandfathers there.. and they all like me.

This is a picture of me with Grandma Boston. She was so happy to see me, I even got a fig newton when I sat and did the shake.  Last week was her birthday and she got lots of nice clothes and flowers - so chocolate was what we decided to bring her. One thing for sure, Gram likes candy. We stayed for a awhile then I gave her a kiss and we headed home. I like going to visit, my Mom says  I can go again soon.  Hope everyone has a wonderful Mothers Day.

In search of Birthday gifts.

Today, I got to go to the Medford mall with my Mom and Dad. My Grandmother's birthday is May 7th and we need to have some nice gifts. There was a shop at the Burnsville center but it closed. We  found out that they moved to the outlet mall, so we decided to take a little road trip. I love to lean up against my Mom while we ride. It was chilly out so we brought my blanket.
I sat in the car while they went into the store. I enjoyed a little sun on my face while waiting. My Grandmother is going to be very happy when she sees the nice things we bought her.  I enjoyed the ride, and my parents said that I was a good boy in the car. (that translates to treats...)

Only 8 days til the Shop Hop

Hi, I haven't had alot of time to Facebook or Blog lately. I've been helping my Mom get ready for the Twin Cities Shop Hop. The hop starts next week, May 3rd - 5th. We've been working alot at the shop and at home.

I was in the shop on Monday and Mom and I worked with Miss Heide to get some displays done. It's alot of work, I'm exhausted. This morning Mom got up early and we went out on the deck to roll some Civil War strips. I don't know what she was thinking, I got out of a warm bed to go out in 46 degree weather.... they're working me like a dog!!!!!

Here's just a quick snap shot Mom took of me helping. I did manage to get a few treats for my efforts. I've also been promised a new chew bone if I help her out again tonight at the shop. Mom says if I don't be naughty and just be quiet (that means not barking or whimpering) then we can go to Petco on the way home tonight. I noticed that Dad got the little kennel out to take to the shop, that must be for if I get tired from all the helping.

Are you doing the hop? I've never been but I heard it's alot of fun. Maybe someday if I'm not working at our shop I can go. I don't drive ya know, so I have to get a ride.

I hope you can stop in the shop and see all the new things and the displays we put up. I just know you'll love 'em.  If you are doing the hop, drive careful - be safe and don't forget to bring treats when you come.

Good Morning

Hi, just wanted to show you how well I'm doing. Notice that I'm not all scratched on my cheeks and my chin isn't all raw.

My Mom says I'm a handsome specimen.... I think it means cute little Boston. All I know is that as long as I take my medications I'm not scratching. My hair is starting to come back a little too.

My Easter basket

Happy Easter to all my friends. I hope you have a wonderful day. I just opened my Easter basket and the bunny left me some really great treats. Hoping the bunny was good to you too.

Thursday, March 29, 2012

OK, so I'm naughty in this photo.. that's not what I'm showing you. People have been asking how I'm doing with my allergy. The new medication is really helping. I hardly scratch at all. The only problem is that I have to be on steroids for a awhile and they cause my hair to fall out.  See the light part of my leg and chest, that's where my hair has fallen out.
Still hiding til Mom picks all the Kleenex up that I chewed.

I'm still a happy guy, the hair loss doesn't hurt, it just looks strange.

My doctor says it will probably come back in when I'm off the steroids. I hope so, my back legs and butt are bald and it's cold when the wind hits me. Mom says that we're gonna have to put sunscreen on me so I don't get sunburn on our walks. Thanks for asking about me, I'm doing really well - Mom says it's not how you look on the outside, but how wonderful you are on the inside. I like that.

Working on stuff for the shop.

I'm up late tonight. Mom and I folded fat quarters and made packs. Actually, I don't do much of the folding, I'm more of the silent type that just observes. I give support when she gets tired of doing them. And of course there's that reward for helping... two little milkbones all for me.

Tomorrow night she says she's going to bring home some little bag kits to fold. I will probably offer my services again. Mom and I make a good team.

Time for bed, hope everyone sleeps well.
Good Night,

I'm a happy boy!!!

I am a happy boy. My face is all cleared up. No more red swollen eyes, not scratching or rubbing and my ears and cheeks are back to normal. The only thing left to figure out is why my hair is so thin in spots. I'm going to look at it as my "Summer" hair... some dogs get shaved when the weather turns warm - mine just thinned all on it's own.

I don't know how long I'll have to be on the steroids or other medications but for now, I'll take them. Mom is still making me the ground sirloin and rice, I hope that lasts a long time - it's really good.

You should see how happy my parents are. They were so upset because I was a mess and  my face was in pain. You should never underestimate the power of a good Mom and Dad - they didn't stop until they got me relief.

On the road to recovery?

I'm looking pretty serious in this photo. Well, this allergy thing is making me sad. Yesterday, my Mom got another medication to add to the two I'm already taking and it may be helping. This morning my face was less red, my eye lids weren't swollen and I didn't feel as itchy as I had been.

Another change my Mom made - she threw out all the crispy dry dog food.  She went to Von Hanson's and had them grind up a Sirloin for me. She boiled it til any grease was out then added it to rice. She says she doesn't want me to eat corn, wheat or any thing that ends in chloride. Once my system is cleaned out we can try adding back the crispy brown things. Personally, breakfast and dinner are really good and I don't miss the dog food.   (Another thing that's helping me feel better - I got new toys. This allergy could actually be working to my advantage, but please don't tell my Mom)

We went to the dermatologist..

Look at the size of that treat. My dermatologist, Dr. McKeever gave it to me for being such a good boy. He told my Mom that I have an allergy and it would probably be forever. We go back in a month to see how the medications are doing. I can't wait... Look at the size of that treat!!!!

A little better today

I'm sleeping in the sun. You can see my ear is all scratched up and raw. My nose and cheeks are alot less red and itchy since my Mom tried a new gel on me.

This is Mary Ellen's "Made by Hand" therapy gel. It's for quilters. It says on the tube that it has White Willow Bark in it, which is proven to relieve pain and is an anti-inflammatory.

Mom put it on her hand where she had a scratch to see if it burned. She wouldn't want to put it on my face if it would cause me more pain. It felt good on her hands so she lightly put it on my ear and cheeks.

It felt cool and soothing, and since I can lick my cheeks..
it doesn't taste too bad either.
We noticed that it did stop the itching and reduced some of the redness. It didn't take away all the problem, I still have to go to the dermatologist to figure out what's causing this. But I will say, it is giving me some relief.

I think I'm gonna call Mary Ellen and tell her that she may be onto something. Next will be her  Veterinary line of products.. right there on the shelf with her Quilt wash, Best Press and Hand Therapy Gel. All because of one little Boston.

Itchy, scratchy... ouchy

I am having kind of a tough time right now. Since I was a little guy I have had some sort of allergy. My doctor had me on prednisone, but that didn't seem to help. Then they tried adding benadryl.... no luck with that either.  Now my Mom is waiting for a call back to get an appointment with a dermatologist. Not sure what dermatologist means, but I hope it fixes this problem. I feel itchy, scratchy and ouchy.

Button, Button - Who's got the Button??

I found it laying on the carpet.... really, it was in 3 pieces just laying there.

You do believe me ?

Saturday, February 18, 2012

Someone tore the vintage quilt.

Mom calls this quilt Vintage, I just call it old. It was so old, it had a small hole in it. If it hadn't been for the ripping noise, Mom would never have noticed that the hole has turned into a long tear.

She had to whip stitch it together to keep it intact til she could really fix it - she said it was also missing the stuffing. While I was sitting in my kennel, experiencing another "time out",  I heard a lot of naughty words and someone yelling about taking somebody to the dog pound.  Not sure what pound means but from the general tone I'm pretty sure it's not good. I guess I should have left the little hole alone.  I'll remember that next time.

Happy Valentines Day!!

Happy Valentines Day to all my friends.

I got Mom up early and we dropped off all my Valentine bags  at my friends doorsteps. I even put one in my Dads lunchbox. He'll be surprised at lunch time to see a nice bag of Hersheys Kisses with a litle tag on it from me.

Hope you all have a great day.

My "Biological" Dad

When you're adopted from the breeder (breeder means really nice lady named Jill) you always wonder who your real  parents are and if you look like them. Well, this is a picture Jill sent us. He's my biological father, his name is Mason. I guess now we know where I get my warm eyes from.

Working on my Valentines

My Mom has her Quilt Sewcial this weekend and was making gifts for the Ladies. I asked if there were any of the bags left, could I have them for a few special friends. Allie that lives down stairs, she's 3 yrs old and we are best friends. She use to call me "Toehog" until she got bigger. When it's nicer she goes for walks with Mom and I.

I have to make one for my Dad and Grandmother. We made the tags and got them all tied up. I think they look pretty nice. Now to wait til next Tuesday. I think my Valentines will be really surprised.

My trip to Fabric Town

Today, I got to go in the truck to Fabric Town to see the Wednesday Ladies

I got there just in time. Everyone was having lunch. That's Miss Evelyn, she was having a really tasty looking sandwich.

I love Theresa... she shares. She gave me a little of her fried rice from Lee Ann Chins.

I stopped to check out a nice quilt that Becky made. Notice how nice I'm sitting and not being naughty.

I'm just resting on Heide's fancy chair. She lets me... we're pretty close. Theresa made the pretty table topper, it's hard to see it but there's some nice embroidery in the border.

Time to go home. I'm heading for the door, that's Janet A. at the counter she's known me since I was a sprout too.  I had a great time, the Wednesday Ladies were my first friends. It was nice to see them again.

Friday, January 27, 2012

Oh, Oh

Oh, Oh, I'm in trouble again. I got up on the dining room table and took a wool flower that my Mom had cut out for her wool runner.

I know you're saying "on the dining room table?", yup. I jumped up on the chair and was looking to see if Dad had left his plate there. He hadn't, but there was a nice little wool flower available. So, I got up on the table and took it.

My Mom says you'd expect it if I was a cat.. but I'm a dog. I think I'll just stay under this chair until the coast is clear. (I bet they push in the dining room chair from now on.)

Resting comfortably

I had my surgery on Wednesday. It went very well and I'm at home relaxing with my Mom. Here I am propped up against the cube, dozing off. I spent yesterday sleeping on my Mothers lap.

I hope it's McDonalds

Mom just got off the phone with someone. They were talking about "Nugget" removal. I sure hope they were talking about McDonalds.

Life is good again.

Life is good again. My Mom came home from her quilting retreat.

She really missed me - I knew she would. Seems that I have snuck into her heart.

I'm hoping there aren't any more reasons for her to go away for a very long time.

Thursday, January 5, 2012

I hate quilting retreats.

Quilters love retreats. They get away from husbands, kids, laundry and everyday stress. The days are spent sewing, eating and laughing with their friends. Projects are done, started and shared.

Well, I personally hate quilting retreats. I don't see any reason for them.  Twice a year my Mom packs up her things and heads to some unknown location. I'm left at home with my Dad.  I love my Dad, he's a great guy and he's really generous with the treats. The problem... he's not my MOM.

I sleep with my Mom, she takes me out in the middle of the night, feeds me breakfast, dinner and sometimes a snack. At night she spends hours throwing my toy down the hall so I can run and play. And on occasion, she puts up with some naughtiness (OK, alot of naughtiness).  Dad plays with the toy, feeds me but isn't as understanding when the naughtiness takes over my body.

Mom leaves tomorrow at 2:00. Normally she leaves in the morning, but because Dad doesn't get home til 8:00 pm she won't leave me in the kennel that long. See, she's a good Mom. For my sake, I hope the weekend goes by fast.

To all the  puppy Moms out there -  take this into consideration before you go on a retreat..
