My favorite Christmas Gift

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Ours was very nice, and I thank you for the cards.

I was really excited with all the toys and treats that I received. But I wanted to show you my "Bestest" favorite.  My friend Heide from Moms shop gave this box of treats to me. They came from a fancy dog shop at the Mall of America, it specialize in all kinds of great things for dogs like me.

These treats are dipped in Milk and White Chocolate. Mom told me I could have these... they aren't the same as the candy bars that Dad always has. Those kind they won't share with me. Infact they read the label to me and it says right there on the Hershey bar "do not give to your Boston Terrier, it will cause a stomach ache.". So I don't eat that kind.

I love this kind, and I don't share it with Mom or Dad... I tell them is says on the label "do not share with your parents, it will give them a stomach ache".

The one problem I'm having is that Mom is in control of how many I get per day... I think Heide should give the box directly to me next time. Now that I'm older, I would be responsible and not eat them all at once. I bet I could stretch them out for 2 hours (give or take an hour).

Anyway, I just wanted to show you my very special gift. Thank you Heide, you never let me down.

Not much to write about lately.

I want to apologize for not blogging lately.  The truth is, my Mom has been home for the past 4 weeks recouping from surgery - so I've been busy taking care of her.

I have to make sure that she eats and rests. I start the morning out banging my bowl around the kitchen until she feeds me. That gives her the idea to have some cereal or even Chobani.  I then help her eat so she's not alone.  Next is the nap times. We get in our little bed and I snuggle with my head on her shoulder - under the covers all toasty warm.  That's the same way we sleep at night but during the day we often watch TV while knapping. I'm going to be sad when she goes back to work.

Her hours are changing. She'll now be working a couple days, Thursday nights, a few Sundays and then fill in where she's needed. She's got alot going on at home so she's going to rearrange her in shop hours to accomodate that. While she's been recouping, she's worked on a new Block-of-the-Month, a spring wallhanging, a spring appliqued towel and now has the fabric to do a table topper.

Then she's working with Lola on the Shop Hop Quilt and getting ready for the Quilt Sewcial. Like I said, she's suppose to be taking it easy but she's still working at the same a pace. Dad says she's a Type A personality... not sure what that means but I love her so it works for me.

We spent last night wrapping a few Christmas gifts for My Grandmother. Mom did most of the wrapping, I just waited to catch any paper scraps that fell off the table. I may be small, but I think I smelled and heard a box of my favorite kind of treats being wrapped... for Gramma.  Hmmm that's seems strange to me, I didn't know she ate milk bones. Hopefully, I'll be there when she opens them and use my adorable face - how could she turn those eyes down?

I'll update you on my christmas, I hope you are all ready and looking forward to enjoying the holiday with your family and friends. Send me a few photos of your tree or a gift you received. I'd love to see them.

Just incase I don't get the chance to blog again before then, You all have a great Holiday and be safe.

Happy Thanksgiving....

Hi, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. If you remember, last year I was too little to understand. Now that I'm big, I'm aware of what a holiday is.

I've been laying under the chair listening to my parents talk about Thanksgiving. I heard my Mom saying to my Dad, "I've got to get the pies to take to Nancy's". So evidently, we're going to my Aunts house for pie........ then Mom was saying it was her favorite holiday and meal. Didn't take me long to understand what that meant... were going for a big meal. Things were going along pretty well until my mother sighed and said "there goes the 7 lbs I just lost". Hmmm, I get blamed for everything around here, I hope they don't think I took the lbs.

I hope you all have some Thanksgiving plans to go to your Aunts house for pie and a meal. Sounds great to me.....  Have a safe holiday.

Today was the first snow of the season.

I don't remember much about the snow from last year, I was born in August so when it snowed I was only about 12 weeks.  WOW - white, fluffy and cold on my paws.

Mom got me all dressed up in my new sweater and Dad took me down. I tinkled on the tree, turned around and headed up the stairs. Not liking snow. Dad wasn't happy, he said it took me longer to get dressed then it did to do only half my business. Guess who took me out 15 minutes later....my Mom. She bundled me up again and took me out. She just had surgery and isn't exactly suppose to be doing three sets of stair but for me, she did. We went slowly and then she found me a place where the snow wasn't as deep on my paws. I did my thing and we headed in going very slowly and carefully. I love my Mom, she's always willing to help me out.

Tomorrow if I go out, I'll have Mom take a picture of me in my sweater in the snow. You saw the sweater in a post a while ago... but not with me really enjoying the warmth.

I hope you're all warm and snuggly...according to my parents, this is just the beginning.

Quilting terms and phrases...

Mom and I have been spending alot of time together quilting. I'm really starting to understand the terms and phrases that quilters use. However, some I'm still not quite sure of.

Today, Mom was mumbling something about taking her quilt to Auntie Patti's house -  because she has a long arm. That's strange, I know for a fact that her arms are the same size, she's held me lots and they're both about 26" from armpit to finger tip. I have no idea what the length of your arms have to do with quilting... but evidently having a long one is good.

This one I'm sure of - when a quilter says "Oh Crap, I lost my points" That has something to do with Weight Watchers.

The last one I heard was when Mom was referring to Auntie Patti again... she said "Hmmm, this will quilt out". That means something isn't right and she's counting on the quilting to make it look good.
Must be that arm thing again.

That's all I have for today, we still have alot of quilting to do so I'm sure I'll learn a few more. Do you think Ricky Tims started by quilting with his Mom and learning the terms and phrases???

Quality time with my Mom

Dad went hunting this morning. I'm not really sure what that means. Usually he's hunting around here for his keys or a sock, no idea why he had to go away to hunt.  But that's OK with me, it just means more quality time with Mom.

I think the plan is sewing. Now I don't sew, but I am the helper. I lay under the table and eat all the thread that falls onto the carpet. By the time Mom's done she doesn't have to vacuum because - "Me" the helper cleaned it all up.

I should get treats for that..... Qua

Halloween is Monday....

NO, Absolutely NOT!!! Halloween is Monday and my Mom's friend Annemarie sent her this photo of a Boston Terrier dressed as a Chia Pet. NO... look at how embarassed he looks. I may be small but I have to draw the line on halloween costumes.
Do any of you remember Lily Jane? This is a picture or her on Halloween in a Butterfly costume. Yes, she's adorable on the outside but I bet on the inside she was humiliated.  So as for me being in costume on Monday, the answer is NO!

I hope you all have a great Halloween, get lots of treats and have fun. I'll be at home, barking at the kids as they come to the door.

Ready for Winter.

If those little Yorkie babes that live across the way didn't like me before.... wait til they check me out in my new winter sweater. Am I not just stylin' or what?
This is the handsome side view... quite the profile. You can't see it, but there's an appliqued bone on the top of the sweater. Just an added embellishment to my already awesome outfit. OK Winter, let it rip... I'm ready.

Toy drive

Fabric Town is having a toy drive for Birthday Buddies, November 1 - 30th.

I'm thinking of having a "Treat" drive for the "Quahog foundation"..... what do you think?
I may be on to something. (Don't tell my Mom)

Blamed again....

I was having a great morning until I was accused of chewing the tag out of my Mom's dress slacks.
OK, they were on the end of the bed,  I was resting next to them. Does that mean I was the one who made the hole in the slacks where the tag was? Personally, I think it just fell onto the floor - all wet and frayed.  Guess I'll just take a nap til she forgets and lets me out of here.

Just resting

This morning, my Mom was working on her "Comfort & Joy" Block of the Month. She's only got a few more blocks to add then attach the borders and it will be ready to be quilted. As you can see, I'm ready to get a little comfort out of it.
Mom asked me,  "why did I have to sit on her quilt with all the other floor space available"? One of the reasons, she was taking photo's of it and I like to have my picture taken. I was doing OK until she turned around, then I snatched a Log Cabin block and ran under the table with it.. no damage, just a little damp on the corner. However, it didn't go over very well. It wasn't like I grabbed an applique block but just the same - Naughty again!!!

Oh by the way, if you want to make a "Comfort & Joy" quilt for yourself there are a few kits still available at Moms shop. Call and reserve one, tell the ladies Quahog sent you.

Have a nice day - stay out of trouble.

Leaves... great to lay around in.

.
I was rolling around in the leaves, just enjoying the wonderful fall day.
Humidity really bothers me so I hadn't been going out much this summer. This past week has been great with the nice temps and cool breezes.
Mom and I sat in the courtyard for almost an hour. It was very relaxing, I almost fell asleep.
While out there, I checked out the babe that lives across the way. Tiny little yorkie with a glitter collar and pink bow in her hair. Nice.......

I'm hoping we can go out again today when Mom gets home from the shop.
Hope you're all enjoying the season.

Small Boston Terrier looking for a new home...

Does anyone want a Small Boston Terrier... I have a feeling that my Mother is going to put me on the curb with a "Free to a good Home" sign on me. (or there's always the Gypsy's)

I was doing a little counter surfing... scooting along the cabinets trying to pull the hand towel off. When I got a hold of the corner and pulled. How was I suppose to know that on top of the towel was an open, 4 lb box of minute rice?

It came down on top of me, then hit the floor. I guess you can picture what happened next. Mom didn't get a photo... after she got done chasing me and yelling REALLY naughty things, she got out the broom. What a mess, there was rice everywhere.

So, if you don't hear from me soon... she gave me to the Gypsys.

My Mom is gone for 6 days...

My Mother left yesterday with Aunt Heide to go to Des Moines. I have no idea where Des Moines is, and to be honest - I don't care. All I want is my Mom to come home. Dad is in charge and it's just not working out for me.

The sleeping arrangements are totally different, I sleep with my Mom. Dad is  not as forgiving when I get into trouble - which happens hourly. And he doesn't make my breakfast and dinner like Mom.

If you see her, can you tell her to come home.

Thanks - Qua

Bees vs Bostons

Yesterday, while my Mom was working on her bookwork, she left the screen door open for me. She does this so I can go out on the deck and lay in the sun.

Sometimes I catch flies when they go by my face, and a spider crawling along is fair game.

See the red welts on my belly.... that's what happens when you catch a BEE in your mouth. I was just laying there and one came by me - so I jumped up and caught him. At the same time I did that, my Mom jumped up and grabbed me. She opened my mouth and let the bee out. She knew it was probably going to be trouble, they experienced bee problems with Quahog # 1. He got stung and almost died.

Within 5 minutes, I was throwing up and my body was getting covered with dime size hives. Then the swelling started. I was turning into a Sharpei right before my Mom's eyes. The hives started to turn to welts and I was getting redder and redder. My breathing was starting to become labored... Next thing I knew I was scooped up and heading for the car. (never under estimate the speed a VW Beetle can go with a panicking Mom behind the wheel)

We went to the vet, he gave me two shots and a prescription to take for a few days. Within an hour I was starting to feel better and the swelling was going down.

The pictures aren't the best, I guess taking photos was not the first thing on Mom's mind. She did manage to get a few when we got home.

The medicine made me very sleepy. I heard my Mom on the phone telling someone that she loves it when I'm quiet and not into things.

In the sleeping photo, you can still see the redness that is left on my cheeks and especially my eyelids. Other than that, I'm back to my old self.

So, right now the score is

Bees 1 Bostons 0

I guess I'll just stick to the occasional fly or spider.

My mornings off to a questionable start.

That looks like me, hiding under the dining room table. Hmmmmmm... what could have happened?

Dad left for work about 5 minutes ago, my Mother was in the "Powder room" - that left me unattended.

Unattended usually means that I'm into something. Or at least I always seem to get blamed for what ever happens.

Mom just bought Dad two really fluffy pillows at IKEA. They're the kind with the little tiny individual pieces of stuffing - kinda balled up. Not like the solid kind. The little balls are alot easier to fit through a tiny hole... if one should happen to get in the pillow.

When my Mom came out of the powder room... all hell broke loose. First she was after me to get the stuffing out of my mouth - that's where the dining room chairs come into play. She has to get down on the floor to get me and then I move to the next one. Then she had to go in and take a picture of my "mistake" so she could tell everyone that I'm Naughty.

I like to think of it as Curious, Inquisitive, Playful, Adventurous or anything but naughty.

My opinion.. just put the stuffing back and no one will be the wiser. What's the big deal, there's lots left in it.

I'm sorry.

I'm really sorry. This sock was laying on the pile of sorted laundry in the laundry room. I always grab the socks and run around with them. How was I suppose to know that this  particular pair was made for my Mom by her friend Laurel.

Dad was picking up the bedroom and found them on top of the dresser. He assumed they were dirty so he put them in the pile The truth is that my Mom wears them as slippers and puts them up on the dresser after she wears them to prevent anyone from getting them. Another thing about these socks, my Mother doesn't  wash these, they go to the dry cleaner so they don't shrink or get worn looking.

We ended up going to Fabric Town to see Heide, she's a knitter. As we were on our way there, Aunt Laurel called cuz she saw my Facebook post. She really wasn't mad, but then again she's too nice to yell at me. My Mom on the other hand... yelled LOUDLY.

I am really sorry for putting a hole in the cuff.

I hope the "Gypsy" thing I keep hearing about is really not true, I like living here.

My first "Social Event"

Here I am, going down the steps to my very first Social Event. There are 25 people and my Aunt Nancy's dog Maggie in attendance.

I was warned in the car on the way over - not to be naughty, no biting or upsetting Maggie and not to eat bad things in the grass or the flowerbeds.

It was a great time. I mingled with all the guests, they liked me.

Maggie acted like I was an annoyance. I may be young, but I was wise to her "hard to get" act.

The food was wonderful, they had everything you could want... and more. Of course, my Mom informed everyone NOT to give me stuff. Most of the guests listened to her but a few were on the same page as me. (I really like corn and chips.)

This is a pic of me strolling across the patio heading for the covered area. I found that's where it's easier to find tasty treats.

We don't have a yard so it's really fun to run and run and roll and jump and just be a puppy. I was terrorizing Aunt Nancy's gardens and nobody was yelling. They even had a pool, but I wasn't invited for a swim.

My Mom said that the best part of the day was when we got home and I slept like a rock ALL NIGHT. Usually I wake her at least every half hour to rotate my position under the covers.
Well, fresh air must be the answer because I was really wiped out.

I hope we can go back again another time before the snow. I want to run around the yard again and have some more fun.

Hope you enjoyed your Labor day weekend as much as I did mine.

We went for a walk today when Mom got home from the shop.

Perfect day for a stroll. This is me leading the way.

Perfectly trained. All I need is a bath and I'll be ready for the Westminister Dog Show. Non-sporting group, you better watch out.

And here I am just checking to see who's been around.

My first party...

Wow, it's fun to have a birthday.

We started with a hamburger from Dairy Queen... really yummy.

Then we opened the presents. I think that was the bestest part. I got lots of treats and two really cool toys. Mom is hoping that I will chew on the green one and leave the socks alone.

The cake was nice. According to my Mom, the lady that did the writing on it must have been drunk. I think that means happy.

So now to wait til next year and have another party. I can't believe I'll get to have one every August 18th.

Hope you all get to have a party on your Birthday.

Today is my Birthday

Today is my Birthday, I am now one, I'm BIG, not a puppy any more.

Tonight we are having a little party to celebrate. Mom is picking up the cake and there will be treats and toys.

This morning, we started off the day with a new toy wrapped in tissue paper and Mom sang me the birthday song. The toy was great but the tissue was fantastic. I think Mom is still picking it up.

All I really wanted for my birthday was a small notebook computer so during the day when I'm in my kennel, I could blog and facebook. My parents didn't think it was a good idea. They said I could meet undesirable dogs in chat rooms. I assured them I was smarter than that and guess what.... I got my little computer.

Here I am out on the deck just checking it out, posting a little facebook and doing
my blog. Now I can keep you up to date on all the things going on in my life.

Tonight is the official party... I'm excited, did I mention the treats?

Hope you all have a celebration kind of day.

Cuddling with my Mom

Next week is my first birthday. My parents say it's hard to believe how fast that year has flown.

I suppose when you turn one, they don't consider you a puppy anymore. Does that means some of the things I do that they blame on the "puppy stage" will no longer be acceptable behavior? Hmmmm, I better find out.

Well, I sure hope that cuddling on my Mom's lap while she does her bookwork is still going to be OK.

She says it's kind of a challenge to juggle me and use the computer at the same time, but she's getting really good at it. (she should be after a year's practice). It's one of my favorite things to do each morning. I'd hate to find out that "Big" boys don't do that.

I guess we'll just have to wait til the 18th and see if things change. For some reason, I doubt they will. I think my Mom enjoys the cuddling as much as I do, she even calls me little Punkin' Pal while holding on to me.

I love my life.

I'm almost 1, where did the time go?

Can you believe it? On August 18th I will be a year old. It just seems like a week ago that I arrived.

Where did the time go? They say time flies when you're having fun, well I have had lots.

Next Thursday we're having a birthday party. No big blown out event, just Mom and I (Dad works late) and a McDonalds hamburger. I've never had one before, I usually just eat Science Diet. I'm really looking forward to it.

The plan is to make it a picnic on a blanket. That'll be a first as well.

I heard the other Quahog's actually had parties with guests, dinner and cake. My Mom says she wants it to be a little more intimate, just the two of us. I wonder if I'll have a cake. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'll let you know how my day goes.

Geese don't like little Boston Terriers.

Yesterday, my Mom and I drove to a new place to take a walk. It was in a neighborhood with nice homes and lots of grassy areas.

I really was enjoying the new place, BUT... while we were there a few Canadian Geese arrived. WOW, they're big.

My Mom suggested that we not go too close to them. I just wanted to get a better look, who knows -maybe try to be friends.

Well, Mom was right. See the one in the picture with its head up.... that's the spotter. His job is too watch for little Boston Terriers and then tell the others.

All of a sudden he started to yell and come towards us. Being "tough" I tried to advance, my Mother was pulling me in the opposite direction the whole time. The goose came fast... squawking and carrying on. I realized at that point that Geese don't like Boston Terriers.

After we were in the truck, we took the picture - from a distance. From now on we will stay in our own neighborhood when we walk.

For the record, my Mom can really run fast. I couldn't keep up so at times I was airborne like a kite.

Keeping cool .

Spent the day at Aunt Patti's house (aka Other Patti at the shop)
She was watching me for a little while. It was pretty cool being able to run around her yard. She has a really large one full of all kinds of things to get into.

She has some fun ways to keep a little guy cool. She gave me some "Ice Bones" to lick and chew on. You would probably refer to them as Ice cubes. Which ever name you chose, they work the same. Cool and refreshing. She even put some in my tasty beverage.

So these pictures are just me enjoying a nice summer day, playing in the grass, terrorizing her gardens and having a cool "Ice Bone".

Thanks Aunt Patti... see ya soon

The heatwave is over for a few days so I'm taking advantage of it.

It was a perfect morning for me to take a few moments and relax on my deck.

I'm laying right outside the sliding door with the screen open. My Mom is sitting right inside - so I can see her while I'm out here. She has a problem with "separation anxiety", so I humor her by always being in her view. That's just the kind of puppy I am.

Cool breeze, sun and a soft quilt ...what more could you ask for?

Hope you're all having a great day.

I just wanted to share them with you.

Personally, I think I was one handsome little dude.
No wonder they chose me out of all the others.

It wasn't me....

This is the face I use when asked, "Did you do this"?
My standard answer, "I don't think so." and then I go under the kitchen table and hide.

There's a new thing that just started around here . Squirting certain people with water. Seems if you take towels or socks, shirts, shoes or things that don't belong to you.... they say get the gun and squirt you with it. I wonder who thought that idea up.

Oh well, I'll just have to be faster.

Time for a treat and nap.
